- Support for older pets and pets with joint problems
- Help for pets who need to gain weight
What to expect
First check
We weigh your pet, check their body condition and ask what they eat each day, including treats.
A plan
We set a realistic target and tell you how much to feed. Slow, steady change is safest.
Regular weigh-ins
You come back for weigh-ins so we can see how it’s going and adjust the plan.
Questions
How do I know if my pet is overweight?
You should be able to feel your pet’s ribs easily without pressing hard, and see a waist when you look down from above. If you can’t, book a weigh-in and we’ll check.
Why does my pet’s weight matter?
Extra weight puts strain on joints and is linked to arthritis, diabetes and a shorter life. Even a small loss can make a real difference to an older or stiff pet.
How fast should my pet lose weight?
Slowly. Cats and rabbits can become seriously ill if they suddenly eat much less, so never starve them. We’ll set a safe target for your pet.
Do treats count?
Yes. Treats, chews and table scraps add up quickly. We’ll help you fit them into your pet’s daily allowance.
Can you help my pet gain weight?
Yes. Weight loss can be a sign of illness, so the vet will look for a cause first. Then we’ll help you build your pet back up.
How much does a weight clinic cost?
Get in touch and we’ll tell you the cost before you book.
